In 2019, Fonds Kirchberg invited Gehl, an internationally renowned firm specialised in people-centred urban design, to elaborate the principles to enliven the public spaces in an increasingly densified environment and to make the Kirchberg Plateau more accessible and sustainable through attractive alternatives to the car.

The Gehl experts drew up a plan for a network of streets, squares and parks, providing the Fonds’ planners with a strategic framework and practical tools.

Architect and urban planner Mathis Güller, from Güller Güller architecture urbanism, representing the team currently working on the urbanisation of the Kuebebierg area (33 ha. in the northern part of Kirchberg), discusses his vision for the future district with Solvejg Reigstad from Gehl in the light of her practice’s research and specific recommendations.

The urban planners’ keynote speeches will be followed by a debate, moderated by Dr Florian Hertweck (Professor, Director of the Master in Architecture, University of Luxembourg).

Organised by the Fonds Kirchberg, with the support of luca – Luxembourg Center for Architecture.
