Sonic Realm: A Public Field-work

Resonating with the theme of the exhibition, the sound walk extends the exploration of infrastructure, embodied practices and sensory approaches to space. It follows what composer Pauline Oliveros calls Deep Listening : a practice of listening more attentively and consciously to our surroundings.

Sam Erpelding
Sound engineer, sound artist, and ecoacoustic researcher (LU)
Sam Erpelding is a Luxembourgish sound engineer, sound artist, and ecoacoustic researcher. He completed his studies in Digital Media Technologies, Sound Engineering and Computer Music in Austria. During his studies, he focused his research and artistic practice on Ecoacoustics and Electroacoustic Composition.
Since 2018, he has presented numerous sound artworks and research findings at venues such as Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain (LU), Konschthal (LU), the National Museum of Natural History Luxembourg (LU) and the Donau-Auen National Park Visitor Center (AU), as well as at festivals such as Ars Electronica (AU), Sonic Shaman (TW), LUGA 2025 (LU) and the 5th Ecoacoustic Congress in Madrid (ES). In 2025, he was artist-in-residence at Casino Display (LU) and at the C-Lab Taiwan Sound Lab, a project held in collaboration with the University of Luxembourg, Academia Sinica Taiwan and the Bat Conservation Society Taiwan.
He is currently completing his artistic doctorate at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz in cooperation with the University of Salzburg, the Donau-Auen and Kalkalpen National Parks (AU). As part of his current research, he received a research grant from Nationalpark Austria.
